Encapsulated Core and Coil. Where quiet performance is required, the standard open core & coil ballasts are encapsulated (potted) in a cube-shaped steel can utilizing Class H (180oC) polyester compound. These ballasts carry a Class A noise rating up through 175W and Class B for 250W and 400W. As with the open core and coil, the capacitor (and iginitor where included) are mounted separately within the fixture.
